Applications
Mining & Mineral Processing
Abrasive sludges, high solids contents, continuous operation: in mineral processing, pump wear is a permanent cost factor.
Your advantages
Wear-resistant
Designed for solids-laden, abrasive slurries in continuous operation.
Dry-run safe
Fluctuating inflows and emptied sumps do not lead to damage.
Stable on the filter press
Model FP holds the pressure build-up across the entire dewatering cycle.
Wear is the real problem
In mineral processing the media conveyed are aggressive by their very nature: ore slurries, concentrates and tailings contain hard, angular solids in high concentration. Every pump in the process is therefore exposed to permanent mechanical attack, and the replacement of wearing parts becomes a fixed item in maintenance planning.
The HODD ranges address this by design. Because the medium only touches the diaphragms and the wetted parts made of chemically resistant plastic, there is no open drive path that could be attacked by the slurry. The wear-resistant design targets exactly this load.
Dewatering on the filter press
A large part of the pump load in processing operations falls on dewatering. Filter presses separate the solids from the water, and the quality of this step determines the effort in all downstream processes — from drying to transport.
Model FP is designed precisely for this task. The stable pressure build-up across the entire cycle shortens the cycle time and delivers a drier cake. In plants running around the clock, this adds up over every cycle.
Operating states that are normal in mining
Fluctuating inflows, changing solids contents depending on the mining area, emptied sumps, a closed valve during a changeover: in processing operations these are not exceptions but everyday occurrences. For many pump designs, each of these states is a potential damage case.
Dry-run safety and protection with the suction or discharge line closed take precisely these risks out of operation. That reduces unplanned downtime in an environment where service calls are demanding anyway because of the locations.
Frequently asked questions
Are the pumps suitable for tailings and concentrates?
The design targets solids-laden, abrasive slurries. Whether your specific medium with its solids content and particle size distribution is covered is something we check on the basis of your process data.
How does the pump behave with a fluctuating inflow?
Dry-run safety means that a temporarily empty inflow does not lead to damage to the unit. The pump does not have to be switched off or monitored for this.
Which range is suitable for dewatering?
Model FP is designed for operation on the filter press. For transport and transfer tasks in the processing circuit, Model TP is the appropriate range.
How demanding is servicing at remote sites?
The hermetically sealed design works without a dynamic shaft seal as a wearing part, and two frequent causes of damage — dry running and a closed line — are eliminated. Specific maintenance intervals are agreed on an application-specific basis.
