Dewatering determines the disposal costs
In sludge treatment, residual moisture is the central figure. Every percentage point of water that stays in the cake is loaded, transported and disposed of along with it. Dewatering is therefore not just a technical intermediate step but the point at which the operating costs of the entire plant are largely determined.
Model FP is designed for exactly this task. The stable pressure build-up across the entire filter cycle ensures that the press sees the pressure needed for dewatering at the end of the cycle. The result is a drier cake — and a smaller quantity that actually has to be disposed of.
A medium that changes constantly
Sewage sludge is not a defined product. Composition, solids content and conditioning vary with the inflow, the season and the upstream process. A pump that only works reliably within a narrow window creates permanent adjustment effort in this environment.
The HODD ranges work reliably during start-up, with changing solids contents and in continuous operation. The wear-resistant design also absorbs the abrasive fractions that are regularly contained in municipal and industrial sludges.
Availability in a process without a pause
A treatment plant cannot switch off the inflow. If dewatering fails, the process backs up upstream — with limited buffer. Availability here is therefore not an optimisation goal but a basic requirement.
The design decisions pay into exactly that: the hermetically sealed design works without a dynamic shaft seal, and dry-run safety as well as protection with the line closed take two frequent causes of failure out of operation.

Are the pumps suitable for municipal sewage sludge?
The design targets slurries containing solids with a changing solids content — the typical characteristic of sewage sludge. We check your specific application on the basis of your process data.
How does the pump affect the residual moisture?
The stable pressure build-up up to the end of the cycle leads to a drier cake. Less residual moisture directly means less mass in transport and disposal.
Does the pump have to be readjusted when the sludge quality varies?
No. The pump works reliably with changing solids contents without a readjustment being necessary for every change.
What happens if no sludge is available?
The pump is designed to be dry-run safe. A temporarily empty inflow does not damage the unit.
